NIBC Bank is a Dutch bank with a long-standing history in corporate and structured finance, dating back to 1945.
In addition to its core business banking activities, NIBC offers savings and deposit products to retail customers in several European countries, including Germany. Through its German branch, NIBC focuses on straightforward savings solutions, including Tagesgeld and fixed-term deposits.
Deposits held with NIBC are protected under the Dutch statutory deposit guarantee scheme, which covers eligible deposits up to 100,000 euros per depositor and bank in accordance with EU law. The Netherlands has a strong sovereign credit rating (AAA from major rating agencies), which supports confidence in the stability of its banking system and deposit protection framework.
The NIBC Festgeld is managed via the bank’s online banking platform, which allows customers to view balances, open new investments, and transfer funds. NIBC also provides a dedicated mobile app for iOS and Android. While the website is exclusively in German, the mobile application also features English.
Customer service is available via chatbot, telephone, and email, with support provided primarily in German.
The "" can be opened through a fully online application process via the bank's German website. There are dedicated offers, conditions, and local websites for residents from other European countries (e.g., the Netherlands, Belgium). Applicants must be at least 18 years old, but there are savings options for minors that can be opened with parental or guardian support.
For the German portfolio, you must have a residence in Germany and a current account with a German bank (IBAN starting with DE). This account serves as a reference account for withdrawals. The NIBC flexible savings account serves as the hub for all NIBC transactions. All customers, also those interested in a fixed-term deposit, must first open a Tagesgeldkonto.
As part of the onboarding process for fixed-term deposit, identity verification is conducted via either webcam (VideoIdent) or in person at a local post office (PostIdent). You need a valid ID or passport and a registration confirmation ("Meldebestätigung") if your official documents do not list your address.
