Oldenburgische Landesbank AG, or OLB Bank, was founded in 1869. Headquartered in Oldenburg, it serves more than 600,000 customers in Germany and further European countries. The business segments include retail banking (private banking and wealth management), commercial banking, specialized financing (commercial real estate and acquisition financing), and brokerage services for real estate, home savings contracts, and insurance.
Today’s OLB resulted from the merger of four successful banks, enabling OLB to evolve into a profitable, nationwide, and diversified bank. Since January 2026, OLB has been part of TARGO Deutschland GmbH, the German holding company of the major French bank Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale.
Deposits with Oldenburgische Landesbank AG are protected under the German statutory deposit insurance scheme (Entschädigungseinrichtung deutscher Banken) up to 100,000 euros per depositor and per institution. This is in accordance with EU deposit-guarantee rules. Germany’s sovereign credit rating is at the top (AAA with major agencies).
In addition to the statutory guarantee, OLB Bank participates in the voluntary deposit protection fund of the Association of German Banks (Bundesverband deutscher Banken e.V.), which extends coverage above the statutory limits.
